STUDY FRENCH AND DO THEATRE IN PARIS, THE "CITY OF LIGHT"

The city

Famous for its rich history, beautiful architecture and cultural diversity Paris remains one of the most visited cities in the world.

Paris has always been a hive of artistic and intellectual activity with its 134 museums, 170 theatres, world-famous universities and cultural festivals, which take place all year round. The gardens and woods of Paris are the largest in Europe: 2200 hectares of green areas including more than 400 parks, gardens and walks.

Paris is also of course the capital of fashion and design and internationally renowned for its boutiques, department stores and young designers.

 




The school

The school is located in the heart of Paris, on the "Grands Boulevards", just a few minutes walk from the Louvre, the Opera, the Georges Pompidou Centre (Beaubourg) and the famous Grands Magasins. This colourful area of Paris has become famous all over the world as it has often been used as a film location. Indeed, it continues to be a source of inspiration for the film industry.

The is situated on the second floor of a typical Parisian building. There are 20 classrooms all equipped with audio-visual material. At the cafeteria students can find a large selection of daily papers and magazines in French, as well as the cultural program produced by the school. We also have a cyber-cafeteria with multimedia computers and Internet access.



The classes

The courses are very orientated to the speaking although all language aspects are treated. To achieve that, the students practice their language skills in an authentic and very communicative environment (role-plays, games, debates,...) and they are also inmersed in the French culture. The school also provide a theater workshop: you can take part in it one morning a week and it forms an integral part of the intensive courses.

There are 8 language levels ranging from complete beginner to advanced: intensive with 20 hours/week, "combined" intensive courses with 23, 26 or 29 hours/week (intensive + 1, 2 or 3 workshops of your choice) or intensive "plus" from 25 to 40 hours/week (intensive + one to one lessons). There are also courses for preparation of official exams.

The accommodation

There are different possibilites for accommodation: in a family, in a student residence, in a shared appartment or in a hotel. The accommodation in a family would be the ideal option to experience the French culture and it is also excellent to improve the language. The host-families are carefully selected and located within Paris. If you want more independence or you would like to live with other students, you can choose the other options.



Social and cultural activities

The school provides a wide range of cultural activities enabling students to have a better understanding and appreciation of French culture. Some examples are: boat trips on the Seine river, thematic visits, guided tours of the world famous museums of Paris, excursions to famous places outside Paris, visits of world famous monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, etc. In these activities you can make friends from other countries who study in the same school.
