ECOTOURISM IN CANADA
Canada is the second biggest country in the world, and it occupies more than the half of North America. It extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the East, to the Pacific Ocean in the West, and to the North to the Arctic Ocean, sharing the border with United States in the South and NorthWest (Alaska), and it is divided into ten provinces. It has more than 2 million lakes and it is covered by forests and mountains, like the famous Rockies.
Canada is a country that, for its extense wild nature, offers many possibilities for ecotourism. In its mountains you can do hiking and mountaneering, in its lakes you can do kayaking and canoeing, some of its rivers are ideal for rafting and there are many ski resorts for practicing skiing and snowboarding. You can also watch a big variety of wildlife (bears, elks, moose, bighorned sheep, raccoons, beavers, whales, seals, otters...)
in many tours offered through different agencies
.
Some famous hiking trips we recommend which require a few days are :
- Bruce Trail (East):
A trail in Ontario 800km long crossing forests, cliffs and mountains from Niagara to Tobermory (Bruce Peninsula).
- West Coast Trail (in the West!): A trail in the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island (British Columbia). It requires between 4 and 8 days for its completion.
