TOURS IN CANADA

Canada is the second biggest country in the world, and it occupies more than the half of North America. It extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the East, to the Pacific Ocean in the West, and to the North to the Arctic Ocean, sharing the border with United States in the South and NorthWest (Alaska), and it is divided into ten provinces. It has more than 2 million lakes and it is covered by forests and mountains, like the famous Rockies.

It is a very modern country that is always evolving. It was founded by the English, French and indigenous cultures, but nowadays is home for people from more than 200 ethnic groups and more than 100 nationalities. It is one of the countries with the best quality of life according to the United Nations. There are big cosmopolitan and multicultural cities like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Furthermore it has some of the most beautiful places in the world (rainforests, deserts, mountains, canyons, islands...) and it is easy to see many species of wildlife.

Canada is a country that offers many possibilities for ecotourism and outdoors activities like hiking, mountaneering, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, skiing, snowboarding, etc. You can also see many wild animals easily like bears, moose, elks, deer, big horned sheep, raccoons, beavers, whales, seals, otters, etc.

There are many possibilities of accommodation if you want to enjoy the contact with nature while you stay in a pleasant place:
- Campsites in the national parks of Canada
- Cottages in Canada
- Wilderness hostels: in this website you will find hostels in remote places where there is no electricity, telephone or bathroom, but where you can stay in contact with nature. We especially recommend the ones in the Rockies like Rampart Creek, Edith Cavell, Mosquito Creek, Whiskey Jack and Beauty Creek.

One of the best ways of travelling in Canada is to do a jump on-jump off bus tour that some agencies offer. There are many itineraries to choose from with established stops. You can do the tour straight staying one night in every place, or you can do it more relaxed staying a few nights in every place and then having more time to explore the surroundings. The bus stops in places to visit and hike along the day.

The guides are young Canadians who will give you information about the places you pass and they will try to create an amusing and animated environment during the tour. The participants are usually young people of different nationalities and you will have the opportunity to make friends while you practice English. The accommodation is in youth hostels, sometimes in villages and other times in the wild.

The agencies that we recommend for these kinds of tours are the following ones:
- Moose Travel Network
- West Trek Tours
- Salty Bear
- Toban Experience
