VOLUNTARY WORK IN PERU

Environmental volunteering: It takes place in the Peruvian Amazon jungle:

  - Reserve of Tambopata: There could be maintenance work in ecotourist lodges, wildlife surveying and monitoring (like the Macaw Project), etc… In some tourist lodges they offer a program of resident naturalists and guides and demand more compromise and a longer stay. This post is only for biologists and there is no cost for volunteers.

- National Park of Manu (the biggest in Peru and the world, in the Amazon jungle), there is a program for assistants in projects of biologists who are researching there. For more information check the website of Centro para la Conservación Tropical de la Universidad de Duke

You can also participate as a volunteer in the ecological project Amaru Mayu of the organisation Asprideq



Social volunteering : Several organisations that work in different social areas. Next we list them:

- Volunteering with young people of disadvantaged neighborhoods in Lima, through educational, social and community activities. You will need to have an intermediate level of Spanish to participate in their international workcamps. For more information, visit their website: Jóvenes de Buena Voluntad

- Intercultural education and indigenous art in rural schools: Warmayllu

- Community projects and schools in the surroundings of Cusco (participants must complete a minimum of 1 week of Spanish classes): Proyecto Peru Centre

- Street children in various locations:
